The Herb Ripper XL 3-piece stainless steel grinder is the larger version, at 2.5 inches, or around 64 mm in diameter. It is made entirely of medical-grade stainless steel and grinds more material in one go than the 51 mm Classic version. The 3-piece XL version does not have a pollen screen - all the ground material falls into the container.

64 instead of 51 mm of grinding surface

The larger diameter provides more surface area and more teeth in the grinding chamber. You can load a larger portion at once and refill less often - for example, when preparing several loads for the day. At around 35 mm tall, the XL still stays compact. The Classic size is easier to carry, while the XL comes into its own at home.

Strong magnet, precise fit

The lid contains a magnet with a manufacturer-rated pull force of 9.2 pounds, around 4.2 kg. This keeps the lid firmly in place on the grinding chamber so it won’t slip while you turn it. Optimized O-rings ensure a secure fit and smooth rotation, even when you grind larger quantities.

Machined teeth without anodizing

The teeth are machined from the same solid stainless steel as the housing. There’s no anodized coating that could wear off at the edges. According to the manufacturer, the grind is between fine and medium, and the matte exterior is finished by hand. The grinder is made in the USA.

Screen-free for a full chamber

Because no screen is installed, nothing is separated out - everything you grind ends up in your herb chamber. The manufacturer explicitly states that the 3-piece XL version does not include a kief screen. This saves a step when emptying and makes cleaning easier, since there’s one less part.
