Storz & Bickel Volcano Classic Vaporizer – The proven classic Made in Germany
The Storz & Bickel Volcano Classic Vaporizer has been synonymous with premium vapor quality and German engineering for more than 20 years. Robust, precise, and powerful, the Volcano Classic is one of the most reliable desktop Vaporizers in the world. Developed and manufactured in Tuttlingen, it stands for durability, pure flavors, and uncompromising quality.
Proven technology – maximum reliability
The Volcano Classic uses a convection heating system that gently vaporizes your herbs with hot air. This means no combustion and fewer harmful substances—for pure, dense, and more flavorful vapor. Its purely electromechanical design works without a display or unnecessary electronics, and that is precisely its strength: what is not installed cannot fail.
What’s inside
Reliability comes from components you cannot see from the outside: a high-performance heating cartridge and a powerful diaphragm pump, both designed for continuous operation. A specially engineered aluminum heating block brings the air to temperature cleanly and reliably. It is complemented by air filters, a silencer, and an independent temperature safety cut-off—the latter activates if the control system should ever fail.
Simple operation & precise control
Using the legendary analog temperature dial, you can set the heating temperature between 130 °C and 230 °C across nine preset levels. There are exactly two buttons: one for the heater and one for the pump. Nothing more is needed. The temperature accuracy is ± 5 °C because the heating block heats up and cools down during operation. At level 6, you therefore operate at approximately 185 °C to 195 °C.
Unmatched vapor quality
The Volcano Classic delivers dense, aromatic vapor that impresses even discerning connoisseurs. The vapor is collected in the renowned Easy Valve Balloons and can therefore be inhaled with complete ease – virtually without draw resistance, without overheating, and with full flavor. Because the filled balloon is removable, you are not tied to the device while inhaling.
Generous filling chamber
The filling chamber holds 6.5 cm³, which corresponds to approximately 600 mg of material – enough for extended sessions without having to refill in between. Its optimized cross-section ensures that the hot air flows evenly through the material.
High-quality materials & robust construction
The Volcano Classic uses only proven, high-quality materials that ensure a long service life and a high level of safety. Throughout the selection process, particular attention was paid to flavor-neutral and food-safe materials – this expressly applies to all air- and vapor-carrying parts of the valve systems as well.
- Housing: Stainless steel with a brushed metal cone – durable, hygienic & easy to clean
- Heating block: Aluminum – for stable temperature distribution
- Filling chamber: Stainless steel & heat-resistant plastic
- Valve balloon: Food-safe, heat-resistant plastic material
- Controller: Mechanical rotary knob with precise control

Frequently asked questions about the Volcano Classic
Tap a question to expand the answer.
How does filling and inhalation work?
Remove the filling chamber lid by turning it counterclockwise, fill it with the shredded material, and screw the lid back on. Remove the mouthpiece before attaching the balloon. Once the balloon clicks into place, the valve opens and the vapor rises. When the balloon is full, detach it from the device—the valve closes automatically, so nothing escapes. Then insert the mouthpiece into the valve and press your lips lightly against it to inhale.
How often should I replace the balloon?
The valve balloon and mouthpiece are maintenance-free, but for hygiene reasons they should be replaced about every two weeks and used by only one person. Since 2017, a balloon with an adapter ring has been included, allowing you to replace the balloon individually—you therefore do not have to buy a complete set every time.
What is the difference between the Volcano Hybrid and the Classic?
The Classic is purely electromechanical: dial, two buttons, balloon operation. The Hybrid, released in 2019, uses electronic controls with a display and offers inhalation through a tube in addition to balloon operation. If you want the simple, indestructible option, choose the Classic.
Why does the temperature fluctuate by ± 5 °C?
The heating block heats up and cools down again, causing the air temperature in the filling chamber to fluctuate within this range. This is normal and well below the self-ignition temperature of plant material, which begins at 235 °C and higher.
Can I use the Solid Valve System?
Yes. Since 2017, the Classic has been supplied as standard with the Easy Valve System, but the Solid Valve System can still be ordered separately.
How do I clean the Volcano Classic?
It is best to clean the screens with the included cleaning brush after every vaporization session. The filling chamber should also be cleaned and reused. A quick routine after each session keeps the vapor consistently pure—much more pleasant than removing dried-on residue later.
Our practical tip
Let the device heat up for the full five minutes after switching it on before filling the first balloon—the heating block needs this time to work truly evenly. Keep the balloon with the adapter ring if you might want to replace only the balloon itself someday. And plan to replace the balloon regularly: every two weeks, as it is a wear part, not a defect.
Conclusion – The classic among vaporizers
The Volcano Classic stands for reliability, quality, and powerful vapor production. No other Vaporizer has proven itself for so long—and it has been doing so for over two decades. With its solid construction, simple operation, and unparalleled flavor, it remains the first choice for connoisseurs who value a stationary high-end device. To the Storz & Bickel Guide
